Meaningful Week...

I had such a fun time on Friday...company organised a community event whereby we brought some old folks living in Toa Payoh out for lunch...these are old folks mostly living alone with nobody to take care of them and they are currently being taken care of by Touch HomeCare...

So in the morning we were briefed on how to take care of them cuz most of them will have some problems here and there...and after the briefing we went to pick them them in group of twos...the old lady that was assigned to me and my colleagues is a 75 yr old lady with no family at all and she has not gone anywhere the past few years...the most she had wandered is the few blocks around where she stay...

Lunch at Copthorne...

Anyway, I really had to salute this particular lady in her twenties...she had devoted her full time to work and take care of the old folks at this care corner at Blk 5 Toa Payoh...very admirable spirit...well, having seen and interacted with the old folks, it really makes me feel hoe fortunate I am...we really must be thankful for what we have...

It's late afternoon by the time we got back office after dropping the old folks at their home...and since i still have time before I met my friends so i went shopping...yes, shopping again...

Actually I needed a pair of court shoes to replace my current one la...cuz my old shoe is "disintegrating"...after looking here and looking there, i finally bought my shoes at this shop at People Park centre...this shop is there as long as i have memory of People Park centre...it's situated at 2nd floor...and I also learned something from the shopkeeper...

I guess most of us has this experience with the leather shoes we bought and usually we'll buy from designer brands...as time goes by, we'll find the lining of the shoe starting to "disintegrate" after a long period of wear or after it was not worn for a long time...and after long period of wear, your feet smells "funny" when you take off your shoes...the shopkeeper told me that's because for designer shoes, their capital costs is much higher (cuz the designer also need to get paid mah...) so the supposedly leather shoes is only leather on the outside...the lining of the shoes they will use material like PVC which will cause all the "disintegration" and smell...if the leather shoes is also lined with leather, the problem will not happen...i dun know true or not la, maybe i'll post again in time to let you know after i've tested my new shoes cuz it's supposedly lined with leather...hee hee...
